A brightly colored cookbook sits on top of a shelf in MyleHatsu's public library. Its contents available to any reader who wishes to visit the fungal city.
Medlar is a fruit most supreme, showing its true flavors only when properly rotted. While such preparation is fairly simple, involving only a large iron tray, a medlar, and time, there are many culinary possibilities beyond its unrefined form. I, Pycena, have compiled many such recipes into this book. And so I will indulge you, the reader, with them, so you too can experience the joy of this rotteningly sweet fruit.
Fireglazed medlar skewer
This smoky and deathly sweet dessert only requires a campfire, three medlars, two units of sugar, and a skewer. First, puncture through the three bletted medlars with your skewer. Any sturdy stick or a piece of clean wood would work for the recipe. Then, sprinkle two units of sugar across the entire dessert.
Cooking the dessert involves roasting it over a campfire until the medlars have caramelized and turned a golden brown. Roast them a bit more to develop a richer, smoky flavor, but be careful not to burn them. Take the dessert off the heat and enjoy it!
This dessert is best paired with any non-sugary drink, such as tea or coffee, and is perfect for sitting around the campfire and telling tales with your friends!
