June shivers, her wings flickering as the cool ocean breeze washes over her. In the distance, the sound of children laughing reaches her ears, causing the esper to dig her fingers into the dream touched sand beneath her. The village of Siren's Lullaby was a remote one, cut off from much of the chaos the rest of Templehelm was currently experiencing. A place like this..it was supposed to be a chance for the Lady of Dawn's Reverie to clear her head, to forget the aching of her heart as she watched a twisted world descend into further madness and decay. But even now she couldn't shake the thoughts, her hands trembling as she recalled all that happened within such a short span of time. The kidnapping of her people, the destruction of multiple holy sites, and the curses that had reached even the ones she cared for. It was all too much to handle. Queen Jocelyn, Ada, Beroe, Cavilion, it seemed each and every one was intent on ripping away whatever control June had managed to grasp for herself. The very notion sent shivers down her back. She couldn't allow it. She had to be in control. She had to be the one pulling the strings. She couldn't be a puppet for the whims of the world. She couldn't she couldn't she couldn't.
The crashing of the waves is enough to yank June from her mental spiral, a shaky breath leaving her lips as her single eye gazes out to the ebb and flow of the oceans tides. It reminded her of her time on the ocean, on the great voyage that lifted the curtain on the lands beyond Templehelm. They'd been suffering too, the cruel cycle of the waking world extending far out into the foreign lands. And yet through it all, the ocean tide continued, a force no less powerful then the decay of the lands, its current pulling the giant ship June had called home for those few months. In a way, this time of the year was similar, the dark energy that came with the festival of the fallen swirling about, pushing even the most headstrong into the deepest pits of despair.
With a start, June rises to her feet, hit with a sudden spark of inspiration. Until that moment, she despised everything the season stood for, a reminder of the cruelty brought by the continued existence of the waking world. But much like the ocean tides, such a strong force of nature could be shaped to suit her needs. Perhaps her greatest weapon against Beroe, Cavilon and the curses they brought, was a curse of her own, a sinister creation to sway control back into her hands. Chuckling to herself, the Lady of Dawn's Reverie rushes to grab her supplies, moving quickly while the idea was still fresh in her mind.
A short time later, June returns to the pink stained shore, carrying with her various supplies she'd need for the project she planned. She'd taken inspiration from her experiences on the sea, as well as the very story that inspired the name of the village. The siren, a creature that could sway the hearts of those with her voice alone. It was the perfect tool to shape with the sinister powers of the season, a weapon to combat those that would insist on tying her up with puppet strings.
First, June places a plushie in the sand, a vessel for the power she hoped to replicate. Smiling for a moment, the esper then moves to the plushies chest, ripping it open and stuffing a plush heart inside where one would normally sit. Closing the wound with extra stuffing and dream threads, June next moves to decorating the outside of the plush. A weave of sirens hair on its head, mermaid tears at the edges of the dolls eyes, and several mermaid scales dotting its arms.
Once that had been finished, June stops to admire her handiwork, a small siren doll with tears running down its cheeks. The vessel was complete, and all that was left was the power she needed to imbue deep within it. Moving the plush carefully, June would start to cover the siren in a blanket of dream threads, each soaked in a mixture of Amber Ichor and Nightmare Fuel. Finally, she would offer a small sirens conch to the plush, leaving it in her left hand, with a line of dream thread to hold it in place.
With gusts of salty air urging her forward, June would at last hold her palm to the doll, her hands sparking of magic as she allowed her intent to flow within her creation. Her experience with the siren, the stories whispered by the village folk, and the forgotten dreams left etched into the pink sand below, all of it would be pushed into the plush siren. The power to sway hearts, a song to control any sailor unfortunate enough to come across it. It was one of the seas most powerful curses, but maybe...it could help June navigate the rocky tides of this festival of the fallen. She could only hope.
